Social Networking

Your business is being talked about on the internet, regardless of whether you are aware of it or not.  People may be saying lovely things about your products and services or on the other hand they may be using social media to say they don’t like you and persuade others to avoid using your company.

Are you aware of what people are saying about you?

Most people will have heard of Twitter, Facebook, Tripadvisor and YouTube, some of the most popular social media sites.  There are thousands of other sites, where people will be posting photos, videos and comments, and many discussion boards where one comment can begin a whole debate about your product or service.  It’s important to identify which social media your customers are using.

Twitter, loved by those who use it and a different world to those who don't Facebook , with more than 750 million active users, this isn't a site to ignore  Trip Advisor, a hugely influencial website for the tourism industry, which is either loved or hated YouTube, video file sharing and one of the biggest search engines other than Google, who now own YouTube

Some of the information posted by people on these social media sites is being read by thousands of people and it’s vital that you know what is being said and reply to both negative and positive comments.  Below is an example of a positive comment on Tripadvisor, which will do wonders for that particular business.  Have a search for your favourite hotel or restaurant and see the comments being left.

A Well located, Good Value Hostel
Two friends and I stayed at Deepdale Backpackers for a long weekend so that we could visit the area and do some walking along the north coast.  We stayed in a triple room in the backpackers and were very happy with the accommodation for the price that was being charged. The kitchen was very clean and well equipped, and it was nice to have the seperate lounge and the outside seating area.  We found the staff to be polite and helpful, and it was nice to have a guided tour of the facilities on arrival.  Stayed July 2011, traveled with friends”
