Some great discussion on Question Time last night and clearly lots of people who’ve fallen out of love with the EU.
As was said last night, it’s very easy to find examples of stupidity and even insanity from the regulators in Brussels – Bend of bananas, definition of chocolate, etc etc.
However I would ask whether all the fault lies with the bureaucrats in the EU? When you visit other European countries they seem more relaxed about some of the crazy rules.
Infact I would lay a large percentage of the blame with the British bureaucrats, because of their insane interpretations of EU rules. With much of EU regulation, the implementation by the individual nations has the biggest affect. Oh how our bureaucrats love a complicated law to interpret and make it more complicated!
The French, the Spanish and even the Germans consider each new law and the impact it will have, then vary their interpretation to suit their situation. Whereas the Great British Civil Service take an EU law and far from considering it’s impact, just consider how to further complicate it.
